Culinaria
In “Culinaria”, ancient Roman and Greek recipes are transcribed in signs and symbols onto plastic grocery bags. Inspired mainly from “De re coquinaria” a cookbook attributed to the Roman author Apicius, the series is a commentary on food culture, waste and the image of our society in the eyes of future generations. It highlights the need to look at our patterns of consumption through a historical lens, to find echoes of it in past societies but also reflect it through the perspective of future ones. It is also a hopeful take on the use of plastic as container, seeing plastic bags as soon to-be archaeological items, an elevated and scarce material, to be preserved and researched in a manner similar to ceramic artifacts.
